Kickers announce Anthem Night
Tuesday, April 4, 2006
RICHMOND, VA -- The Richmond Kickers are pleased to team up with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in the support of the fight against cancer on Anthem Night Saturday, April 15th at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Richmond Stadium when the Kickers host rival Virginia Beach Mariners. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Jamie Hess Cancer Research Fund at VCU’s Massey Cancer Center.
“We are happy to have the support of Anthem once again for this great evening,” comments Richmond Kickers Vice President & General Manager Paul Sterbenz. “This is a fantastic way to kick-off our 2006 season by presenting an entertaining and fun-filled event for the community, while simultaneously assisting in the benefit of a very worthy cause. Hopefully, we can fill the stadium and raise a substantial amount of proceeds for the Massey Cancer Center.”
Established in honor of Jamie Hess, a ten-year old soccer fan who lost his battle with leukemia in 2002, the Jamie Hess Cancer Research Fund was established to help seed new research projects in the area of Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation. If you would like to make a direct contribution to the fund, donations will be accepted at the game or make checks payable to Massey Cancer Center with a notation on the memo line “Anthem Night/Jamie Hess Fund.” These can be mailed to:
Massey Cancer Center c/o Kelly Canfield PO Box 980214 117 S. 14th Street, Suite 310 Richmond, VA 23298-0214
