COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Saturday the addition of Colorado Rapids midfielder Zach Pfeffer on loan for the remainder of the 2016 USL season.

The Switchbacks also announced the signing of goalkeeper Zac Gibbens, previously of Harpo’s FC, to bolster the club’s goalkeeping corps down the home stretch of the season.

The first Homegrown signing in Philadelphia Union history, Pfeffer was traded to the Rapids this past January, and has spent time on loan previously with the Charlotte Independence this season. The 21-year-old made 21 appearances a season ago in MLS for the Union, and made 16 appearance on loan with the Independence this season as he awaits his first MLS appearance for Colorado.

A former member of the U.S. U20 National Team, Pfeffer joins Conor Doyle on loan from the Rapids on the Switchbacks’ roster as the side prepares to face the LA Galaxy II on Saturday night at Switchbacks Stadium.

Gibbens joins the Switchbacks to provide cover for goalkeepers Devala Gorrick and Billy Thompson. The 28-year-old faced the Switchbacks earlier this season in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as he recorded four saves in the Switchbacks’ 1-0 victory. Gibbens also previously played in the PDL while attending the University of Dayton.
